ARTEMIS:(European Technology Platform in Advanced R&D on Embedded Intelligent Systems)
ARTEMIS is a European technology platform geared towards embedded systems, and Tecnalia is a member of its Steering Committee. It provides a vision, mission, aims and strategy for research, technology and innovation on a European level within embedded systems.
Framework programmes
The multi-annual Framework Programmes are the European Union’s principle tool for funding research. Right now, Tecnalia’s Software Unit is involved in the Seventh Framework Programme focussing on actions of research, technology development and demonstration for the period 2007 to 2013 with the aim of turning the European economy into one that is more competitive and dynamic.
PROMETEO
Created in the wake of the ARTEMIS European Technology Platform, it has been promoted by Tecnalia and Telvent. It was set up with the purpose of increasing the competitiveness of Spanish industry by positioning it among the European leaders in the production of systems with integrated intelligence.
NESSI: Networked European Software and Services Initiative
NESSI is the European platform devoted to Software and Services. It embodies the strategic mechanism by which ICTs can be taken advantage of and exploited worldwide by applying innovative technologies that all the economic sectors can benefit from. The Software Unit participates in various Working Groups.
INES: (Spanish Software and Services Initiatives)
A Spanish Technology Platform in the area of Software Systems and Services which constitutes a scientific and technological Co-operation Network made up of prominent technological players in the area (companies, universities, technology centres, etc.). It was set up with the final aim of increasing the competitiveness of Spanish industry by positioning it among the European leaders in its field. Researchers belonging to the Software Unit sit on its Management Committee.
eSEC
eSEC is the Spanish platform of technologies for security and trust whose aim is to improve the competitiveness of the Spanish science-technology-company system and the strength of the digital security sector in Spain.
The Services area of the ESI-Tecnalia Software Unit has for the last 15 years been offering training and consultancy services in a range of technologies. During this time it has trained over 4,000 professionals in more than 800 organisations in over 30 countries. These services are provided by expert consultants with experience in the practical implementation of these subjects in different organisational contexts.
Tecnalia’s Software Unit has consultants specialised in ensuring the quality of an organisation’s processes, products and services. They have been accredited by the best to help companies be more competitive through the improvement of their software processes.
Geared towards SME’s in particular
A partnership project consists of informing a group of SMEs about the benefits and features of the new technologies/models/standards, so that they can participate together in a joint project to share resources and thus cut costs. Each SME participates in a joint project with the same aim, but each one carries out its own project, and this allows them to have specific support to enable their own plan for improvement to succeed.
