Presence in Europe

The Industrial Systems Unit is a member of the following European networks: EURON (European Robotics Research Network), EUROP (The European Robotics Technology Platform), and ARTEMIS (Advanced Research & Technology for Embedded Systems). On a level of networks, the Industrial Systems Unit belongs to the High Level Group of the MANUFUTURE platform (European Technological Platform for Researching in Manufacturing), it coordinates the Spanish platform MANUFUTURE-E and participates in the specifying of the multi-annual work programme of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) “Factories of the Future”.

As regards the European Union's 6th Framework Programme, the Industrial Systems Unit has coordinated 5 projects (2 STREPS, 1 IP and 2 CRAFT) and has participated as a member in 17 projects. Right now, the Industrial Systems Unit is participating in 28 European projects and leading 4 of them:

1. INMA: “nnovative Manufacturing of complex Ti sheet components”. 7th Framework Programme. Title Title FP7-2010-TRANSPORT. Aeronautics and Air Transport. 
2. DEMAT: “Dematerialised Manufacturing Systems: A new way to design, build, use and sell European Machine Tools”. 7º Programa Marco. Llamada FP7-NMP-2009-SME-3
3. SHIPWELD. “Automatic Welding Process for the Shipbuilding Industry”. Interreg Atlantic Area.
4. ICEJET: “Ice Jet Technology pilot plant for drastically reducing waste produced by abrasive water jet cutting techniques”. Life+ Programme

The Industrial Systems Unit has also participated in the organising of the Conference of the 7th Framework Programme of the Spanish Presidency of the EU, “The European RTD Framework Programmes: From economic recovery to sustainability”, through the coordination of the Support Action for the “International Conference of the Spanish EU Presidency 2010. The European Framework Programme: from Recovery to Sustainability” (EU2010_R2S).

It has also been commissioned to organise the 3rd “EURON EUROP Annual Meeting" in 2010.
