Does Interdisciplinary Education improve the gender balance and attract more young people in Engineering and Technology higher education?

HelenaAttracting more young people, particularly women, in Engineering and Technology (ET) is a major concern in Europe today. Their participation in engineering occupations appears to be a key-issue for European economic and technical development, as well as a central achievement towards gender equality and social justice. Increasing young people interest in the sciences and mathematics and underlining the importance of Engineering and Technology developments in shaping our collective future is an ongoing project in the education sector.

Creatinn, the building of a real cross-regional innovation system in SUDOE (South-East Europe)

CreatinnThis project sets out to contribute towards encouraging the players currently operating in regional innovation systems to make the leap to cross-regionality, and enabling them to become consolidated in a real system of cross-regional innovation within SUDOE. This is expected to be achieved through the creativity and innovation of companies and with the support of the components of the innovation systems in which they operate, in an atmosphere of cross-regional interaction within SUDOE.

Innovation clusters in the construction sector: Regional approach, multi-agent commitment and trans-regional co-operation

RegConREGCON, funded by the Knowledge Regions initiative as part of the 7th Framework Agreement on Research, is pursuing an ambitious aim to set up clusters geared towards research in the construction sector in three European regions, one of which is the Basque Autonomous Community, together with another two, one in Poland and another in Greece. In this venture, support and mentoring of regions in Slovenia and Finland that already have clusters will be forthcoming.

Eco-innovation in the Basque Autonomous Community: Policies, Technology and Competitiveness

eCo-BERRIThe eCo-BERRI project arose out of the need to transmit to Basque companies and their milieu the opportunities offered by eco-innovation and low carbon industry as a means for improving the sustainability of their products and processes and increasing their competitiveness by means of current and emerging technologies. It sets out to generate a framework that will encourage transition to eco-innovation and low carbon industry in its various aspects –linked to policy, technology and competitiveness.

Child on beachThe basic aim of the project is to establish the bases for becoming regions of excellence (regions with a proven record in competitiveness, economic growth, sustainable development and social cohesion) thanks to the setting up of a common methodology for managing knowledge to do with science, technology and innovation on a regional level.

Trans-regional University-Company Network for Organising the Innovation and Knowledge Market in SUDOE

RedomicThe basic aim of REDOMIC is to boost innovation in the SUDOE regions. It takes the view that this boost needs the introduction of organisational elements of the knowledge market and, in particular, in the context of University-Company interaction its trans-regional and trans-national aspect.

 

CEMSDI: Civil Servant Empowerment for Multi Media Service Delivery ICT-enabled.

CEMSDI. Digital Local AgendaCEMSDI aims at strengthening the capacity of civil servants and other practitioners forming part of the service delivery chain in territories in need of active eInclusion and eGovernment policies.

It is because of this that the project focuses in particular on local governments which serve around 8.000 inhabitants or fewer, where the digital divide tends to be the largest. For these administrative units, the empowerment of Public Officers and their administrations is vital in order to ensure the implementation of digital inclusion policies, which target the socially disadvantaged, modernise the organisations of public administration and efficiently deliver eGovernment and other local services.

Innovation service for SMEs in Bizkaia

INNOGUNE BizkaiaThis project, called INNOGUNE, sets out, through the invigoration of a broad group of County Agents, to bring the culture of innovation to the SMEs in the province of Bizkaia by promoting the development of individual and group projects.

The project establishes the setting up of various INNOGUNE’S of a county nature, like meeting points and support for SMEs, in which collaboration takes place through a network of experts in dealing with the needs for innovation that have been detected.
