FACOMP

Development of profiles based on polymeric nanocomposites for Curtain Walls

This is a European project in the sphere of Architectural Shells, specifically for the development of systems with new materials. What stands out is the development of the project “Polymeric nanocomposites profiles for curtain walls” within the FP7. Right now, work is being done on the level of architectural solutions once the profiles and their composition have been specified.

  • Making the Curtain Wall lighter
  • Flexibility in the design of the architectural shell
  • Improvement in thermal and acoustic performance

CODICE

Development of a computer simulation tool that allows the structure and mechanical properties of cement mortars to be reproduced on the basis of macroscopic variables.

European project on “Computationally Driven Design of Innovative Cement-based Materials”, within the 7th Framework Programme and led by TECNALIA-Construction. It focuses on the advance in design and prediction by means of numerical, multi-scale simulation of the physico-mechanical properties and durability of cement by-products on the basis of composition and process parameters.

  • New channel for developing construction materials
  • Prediction of properties and durability of concrete

TERMISOL

Hybrid coatings under long-lasting emissives for thermal solar panels.

  • Increase in the durability of the coating of the collector
  • Improvement in the manufacturing processes
  • Cost reduction

PROMETEO

Development of intelligent materials for Sustainable Building.

  • Materials that are lighter, easier to use in building and structurally multifunctional. Based on organic and ceramic materials geared towards improving productivity and the creation of business.

Building and Energy Efficiency

DUCH

Study of the Energy excellence of the new Urban development in Charmartin (Madrid)

  • Establishing of parameters that contribute towards greater energy efficiency in new construction
  • Bioclimatic architecture: Preliminary plan

MANUBUILD

New modes for producing decent, sustainable and affordable buildings.

  • Radical integration and industrialising of the design, production and processes for distributing them.

CICLOPE

Analysis of the Environmental Impact of buildings throughout their life cycle in quantifiable terms of energy consumption and associated GEI emissions.

  • Cut in CO2 emissions in building
  • Obtaining of a methodology for evaluating sustainability
  • It will facilitate decision taking with respect to the sustainability of building projects
  • Obtaining of criteria to take decisions on opting for restoration or starting from scratch

BALI

Comprehensive design of acoustically efficient systems and buildings in a health-giving environment.

  • Improvement in the acoustic features of architectural products
  • Greater efficiency from the acoustic comfort point of view and without neglecting other aspects to do with sustainability, in particular to do with energy saving.

Restoration

TEJIDOS TECNICOS

Structural restoration using technical fabrics from stone to concrete.

  • System of reinforcement that can be adapted to any substrate, use and environment
  • Light intervention of maximum compatibility: physical, chemical, cultural and social

TEATRO CAMPOS ELISEOS

Project to Restore the Teatro Campos Elíseos (Bilbao).

  • RestaurScientific restoration of a modernist building (theatre) (preliminary studies, final design and works supervision)
  • Incorporation of scenic equipment technologies

PORTICO DE LA GLORIA

Preventative preservation plan of the Pórtico de la Gloria and Capilla Mayor (Main Chapel) of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the ambient conditions in the Portal de la Gloria and its environs, and in its vaults and arches in order to protect and preserve them.

OLD HAVANA (CUBA)

Barrier-free heritage, project to cooperate in the development for improving accessibility.

  • Providing effective solutions for improving Accessibility and the Historical Heritage (on an Urban and Building scale).

Safety

At the same time, in the field of Safety, the following ongoing projects are worth highlighting:

BILBAO AIRPORT

Verification of Safety in the event of Fire at Bilbao Airport

  • Verification of the smoke monitoring/control system
  • Validation of the efficiency of the systems to detect and control fires. Cost cutting

NOFIRE

Development of rapid-opening commercial and garage doors with fire spread prevention features.

“High speed fire stopping sectional door” FP7-SME-2008-1 to develop rapid opening and closing garage fire spread prevention doors for the compartmentalisation of fire sectors. The project encourages the development and manufacture of new products that are fire resistant and cover the existing gap in the European market for these types of systems.

  • Improvement of fire fighting features
  • Improvement in the performance of the materials
  • Incorporation of polymers that do not produce toxin degradation

CRISALIDA

Development of a Current Transformer with enhanced fire safety features.

  • Minimization of the fire risks of the components that make up part of CTs (fire load, toxicity, smoke opacity, etc.).
  • Development of prefabricated shells with fire protection characteristics

HEFEST

“Smart fire retardant coatings based on intumescent nanocomposites”, fp7-sme-2007-1

Project designed to develop intumescent coating systems by means of the incorporation of hybrid nanoparticles.

TRANSFEU

“Transport Fire Safety engineering in the European Union”, FP7-SST-2008-RTD1,

Project that aims to present a methodology for the reliable measuring of smoke toxicity, at the same time as an integral approach to fire safety for all types of land transport.
