TECNALIA, mainly within the FIK initiative framework, has developed several products that any interested company may acquire by licensing, buying the patent or by creating a start-up for its commercialisation. Currently there are the following products available for transfer to the market:

Universal haptic device: a medical device for rehabilitating the arm and wrist. This device is specially indicated for patients suffering from stroke.

Device for balance support and posture. This is a software for the clinical analysis of walking that leaded to a hardware prototype fitted with a wireless inertia sensor and FSR insoles that had been tested in patients.

Multipad electrodes (hardware) to control the stimulation patterns of sensory signals during upper and lower limb rehabilitation (stroke).

Porous PEEK for implants. Development of a PEEK foam material that can be used as an implantable material due to its good mechanical and bio-integrational properties. This is the first in a series of patents that is expected to create in the field of non-resorbable foams for trauma implants.

Microencapsulated symbiotic material. Encapsulated product that includes probiotic and prebiotic compounds and polymeric materials as encapsulating material. The structure of the capsule makes it possible to create a symbiotic agent that is able to reach the intestinal tract in a more efficient way than non-encapsulated symbiotics. Whether alone or incorporated into foods, this material can be used for intestinal tract dysfunction prevention or treatement.

A system that allows knowing if a person feels positive or negative with the stimuli around him. Using the readings of a standard device (a commercial health rate monitor), it allows to discern the intensity and emotional value of an individual at a given moment.

A portable, low-cost robotic device for upper limb rehabilitation at home. This device is specially indicated for patients who have suffered a stroke and is accompanied by a tele-rehabilitation platform, thus allowing rehabilitation at home under supervision from the therapist and its quantitative evaluation.

It is equipped with localisation services, and in the event of a fall it sends the person's position to the tele-care centre and establishes a call with that person in hands-free mode. TECNALIA has reached an agreement with two organizations for the setting-up of a technology-based company in the health sector for the exploitation of the international patent Varstiff®, smart textile that is able to transform itself from a flexible state to a stiffness one
through the application of negative pressure or vacuum.
