Description of offer:

TECNALIA is the most important centre in applied research at the national level, being among the top five at the international level. With 1,437 people on staff, it divides its activity on applied research in five divisions: Sustainable Development, ICT European Software Institute, Industry and Transport, Innovation and Society and, finally, Health and Quality of Life.

Within the Industry and Transport Division we find the Industrial Systems Unit, where is located the vacancy, specialised in industrial manufacturing processes: robotics, vision, machine tool and special machine, automation, industrial machining (machining, welding, forming…), monitoring, data mining and artificial intelligence, etc. The Unit has a horizontal approach in its sectors of activity, whose main are the machine tool and capital goods sector, transport (aeronautics, shipbuilding, automotive, railway), energy and agri-food.

Mission and functions:

We are thinking in a researcher Master entitled or PhD, a Senior Computer engineer or Industrial engineer with technical expertise in the field of research in robotics and industrial software.

Its mission consists in the research and technical development in issues of control of robotic systems for advanced applications in handling, dual-arm assembling, cooperative robotics and materials processing operations.

He/She will work on a wide variety of systems and applications, depending on the needs of our internal strategic projects and our customers.

Its mission is also to ensure that the projects in which is involved satisfy customer and create an economic return in a short, medium and long term for both the client and TECNALIA.

In addition, as all researchers of TECNALIA, his/her work consist in taking part, as a support to the sales team of the unit, in the identification of new opportunities, the analysis of the needs of our customers and the definition of possible technical solutions, etc. 

Requirements:

  • Studies: Master or PhD in Robotics or Computer Engineering or Industrial Engineering with industrial experience in R&D.
  • Experience: 3-5 years experience in research in the field of Robotics and Computer Vision
  • Languages:
    • Fluent Spanish and English
    • French valued
  • Availability to travel
  • Knowledge/Skills/Attitude:
    • Theoretical and practical knowledge in Control and modelling of robots techniques. For example: Direct and Inverse Kinematics (serial and/or parallel), dynamics, effort control, compliant control, optimization of redundancies, etc.
    • Management of Robotics Software (Ros, MRDS, I-Grip, Roboguide,…) and/or Programming Software for Industrial Robots (Fanuc, Kuka, B&R)
    • High level in C/C++ Programming
    • Applied knowledge of Software Engineering principles
    • Ability to understand and analyse scientific publications
    • Experience in the development and implementation of industrial projects
    • Experience in R&D projects, in its conception and development
    • Ability to work autonomously, resolute/decisive person
    • Aimed at respecting deadlines and budget objectives
