Tecnalia adopts a proactive stance in the setting up of New Technology-Based Firms (NTBs). Right from the start, these projects seek to secure products, services, demonstrators and/or patent rights assets. These are secured as a result of the specialisation, monitoring and prospective studies work developed by our Business Units.

The assets generated can be exploited in three different ways, all within the routine activity of the centres belonging to Tecnalia.:

Technology transfer to companies (via knowledge, patents or licences).
Marketing of products and services.
Setting up of NTBs.

Through the setting up of companies in Tecnalia:

A contribution is made to the creation of jobs and wealth in Society.
Research activity is increased, since we are generating a new fabric of new knowledge-intensive companies.
In the medium to long term, financial gains are generated and they are then ploughed back into research or into the setting up of new companies.
The spirit of enterprise among Tecnalia’s young scientists and technologists is encouraged.

Tecnalia contributes to the creation of jobs and wealth in Society

To obtain results, you must have enterprising people. Tecnalia has set up the “Team Academy in Euskadi” for this purpose. Its main aim is to train future entrepreneurial leaders taking, as the starting point, the balance and integration of academic training, the development and technical and scientific knowledge of researchers and technologists, and the putting of this knowledge into practice in a business environment. Basically, the mission of the “Team Academy in Euskadi” will be to create a space that is open for the experimenting, learning and development of leaders that undertake initiatives as a team in knowledge-intensive ambits.

The results are clear. So far, Tecnalia maintains a stake in 25 companies that employ over one hundred people.
