Description of offer:

Tecnalia works actively on solutions for a more sustainable mobility, performing research on new ideas for future aircrafts. Our research is currently focused on aircraft electrification global trend, as a way to start creating the sustainable air fleet of the future.

The offered position belongs to the Aeronautic department, which is actively working on the development of systems to contribute to More Electric Aircraft (MEA) architectures.

The position is focused on power electronics and motor control research and development, leading a team of researchers in different research lines, and aiming to create a European leading research group in this field in the coming years. Currently Tecnalia has a very good European positioning in the field of research and development of EMA (Electro Mechanical Actuator), but we would like to reinforce this research field and also extend it to the aeronautical electric propulsion.

We are looking for a professional with more than 5-6 years’ experience in power electronics and control of electrical machines, preferably related to system development in the aeronautic, automotive or industrial fields.

Requirements:

  • Degree: Electronic, Control or Telecommunication Engineering, preferably with a master in Control Electronics or Power Electronics.
  • Minimum experience required: Knowledge and experience in modelling and simulation of power inverters and electrical machine control (Simulink, Powersim, Saber), as well as in the design of advanced controllers (type FOC, DTC, Robust, Predictive or Optimum control) and algorithms / techniques (sensorless, modulation for optimization of performance of the motor + inverter assembly). Knowledge in electronic driver development using advanced rapid prototyping techniques on real-time platforms, dSpace or equivalent and implementation and validation on DSP and microcontroller, preferably from the Texas Instruments or Freescale families. The experience in RS485, CAN, ModBus, Arinc 429 communications will be positively evaluated. Implementation knowledge in FPGA will be evaluated. Experience in regulations for the aeronautical or automotive sector (IEC-SIL, ISO-ASIL, RTCA-D0-254, RTCA-D0-178) will be positively valued.Knowledge of electrical-electronic design tools, specific sensors and drivers (LVDT, resolver, load cell, ...), design against EMI / EMC or safety calculations: MTBF would be appreciated.
  • Languages: english fluent spoken and written.
  • Others:
    • SW development experience on DSP platforms, Texas instruments, Freescale, etc.

    • Knowledge of modelling and simulation of complex systems, power electronics, electromechanical actuation systems, problematic knowledge of motor control applications - C programming for microcontroller and DSP.

    • Experience in the physical integration and tuning of electromechanical systems.

 

 

 

 

Advantages:

It will be valued: Doctorate or master in advanced control or power electronics, previous involvement in research projects, projects of the European framework program, as well as advanced knowledge of electronics.
