Cement production is responsible for more than 8% of global CO2 emissions. It is accountable for a total of 2.2 billion tons, of which 90% are generated during clinker production.
In order to comply with the provisions of the Paris Agreement, the cement industry would have to reduce its emissions by at least 16% by the year 2030.
Microwave clinkerisation is therefore an environmentally-friendly alternative to today's production process.
