“The building includes several technological innovations both in materials derived from wood and in construction systems and digital”

One of the main goals of the BASAJAUN demonstrator is the optimisation of sustainability in timber construction.

On the outskirts of Bordeaux, TECNALIA has opened a sustainable demonstration building, built with intensive use of wood. One of the main goals of the BASAJAUN demonstrator is the optimisation of sustainability in timber construction.

It also aims to promote rural development and urban transformation by establishing a link with the sustainable management of Europe’s forests. To this end, the building includes several technological innovations both in materials derived from wood and in construction systems and digital applications. It also has a integrated digital twin that allows real-time monitoring of consumption and energy efficiency, among other things.

The project has been running for the last four and a half years and is located within Le Pian-Médoc school. This school has won the “Prix Régional de la Construction Bois” prize, awarded by Forêt Bois Papier in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
