First implementation of CMMI-ACQ in an Spanish public administration: the international quality standar of software services
More than two years later and a team of about 25 people have worked in an ambitious project of the Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) to improve and streamline its entire internal IT, with the aim of simplifying the processes and ensure their quality.
This work was ordered to TECNALIA and Everis, who just completed a successful implementation of CMMI-ACQ in this public administration.
It has been a very thorough and complicated work as the DGT made each year about 25 million transactions, such as traffic penalties, points of driving licences, road conditions, etc.. Besides, it is important to take into account the huge number of administrations and agencies with which the DGT works daily, about 4,000, including all Spanish municipalities, insurance companies, state and local regional governments, ITV stations, etc.
It have also been unified relationships between DGT and about fifty suppliers with whom they work.
Taking into account his volume of data, processes and interconnected administrations, the DGT needed to standardize its processes and ensure that its internal management would facilitate control, visibility and quality of these processes.
This project has organized all internal IT processes, which has also migrated to open systems, and has applied for the first time in a large Spanish public administration, the implementation of CMMI-ACQ system, an international standard of quality software services.
