“Artificial intelligence improves working conditions and general well-being in the workplace”

TECNALIA is working to significantly enrich human-robot collaboration.

Together with 12 other partners, TECNALIA is working on bringing new AI-based solutions to the human-robot relationship in industrial environments. TECNALIA aims to create a work ecosystem in which human-robot communication and collaboration is as smooth and natural as possible. To achieve this, TECNALIA seeks to develop holistic solutions, leveraging multimodal communications that take into account visual, gestural and vocal aspects. This will help robots understand and respond to humans in a more humane and empathetic way.

This project has a very broad scope of application, with potential in sectors as varied as construction, infrastructure services and more industrial environments.

  • The project, called FORTIS, aims to improve safety and efficiency in the construction sector by optimising the planning and execution of projects.
  • As for infrastructure services, it can help with maintenance and monitoring of critical infrastructure, increasing both safety and efficiency.
  • In the manufacturing industry, FORTIS optimises production by fostering more effective human-robot collaboration, resulting in greater productivity and safety.

Industrial environments

By enabling a smoother and more natural interaction, TECNALIA helps to increase efficiency and productivity in a wide range of collaborative tasks. By adapting technology to workers’ needs, rather than forcing workers to adapt to technology, TECNALIA seeks to improve job well-being and satisfaction.

Furthermore, through a better perception and understanding of the environment and human intentions, it helps to create much safer workplaces, minimising risks and promoting a protected work environment for everyone.

Designing a work ecosystem where human-robot communication and collaboration is smooth and natural requires a combination of advanced technology, user-centred design and a deep understanding of human and team dynamics.

In this sense, artificial intelligence (AI) has enormous potential to improve working conditions and general well-being in the workplace. Through automatic accident prediction and prevention, AI can create a much safer environment for workers, minimising risks in real time.
