The European Commission has qualified our study on cloud certification as innovative and revolutionary

2018.12.20

The results will be presented to ENISA as recommendations for the certification scheme to be developed

The study ‘Cloud Certification Schemes’, recently published on the European Commission website, has been qualified as innovative and revolutionary. The presentation was made at the conference on ICT product certification schemes, organised by ENISA and the European Commission on 20 November in Brussels.

The results show that, although cloud computing as a technology and business model is ‘mature’, lack of trust is one of the main barriers that affects its adoption. Our study shows that it is very fragmented, it has different coverages and compliance methods, without an immediate ROI, translating into a low degree of acceptance by the industry.

The European Commission has taken this study as a basis for the work that is being done at the self-regulated group CSPCERT (Cloud Service Provider Certification), supported and sponsored by the European Commission, and at which we are drafting member and editors.

The results will be presented to ENISA as recommendations for the certification scheme to be developed following the mandate of the Cybersecurity Act. The authors of the study are Leire Orue-Echevarria, Conchi Cortes, Maite Álvarez and Ana Ayerbe from TECNALIA, and Begoña Sánchez from POINT.
