New specialised training in computer vision and AI applied to biomedicine

TECNALIA is launching this micro-credential in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (EHU) aimed at professionals who wish to gain an insight into the use of AI and medical image analysis in the field of digital health and biomedical research.

Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Applications” is an online course that will take place from 11 May to 8 June 2026: it offers a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals and most current applications of computer vision in healthcare contexts.

    Purposes of the training

Students will learn key skills in medical image processing, data annotation, data-centric AI and deep learning, addressing benchmark architectures and techniques such as U-Net, ResNet or Transformers, widely used in healthcare innovation projects.

    • The programme focuses especially on the biomedical data life-cycle – from the acquisition and preparation of 2D, 3D and 4D images to the assessment of the robustness, reliability and regulatory compliance of AI models in clinical environments.
    • The course will also examine the potential of foundational and multimodal models, capable of integrating image, text and clinical data, as well as emerging technologies with a high impact on diagnosis and medical planning.

    Who is it aimed at?

This course is mainly aimed at health professionals, engineers, research staff and technological innovation professionals. It is taught by EHU lecturers and TECNALIA’s SALUD and DIGITAL team.

    • This training strengthens TECNALIA’s commitment to advanced training in key technologies for the transformation of the health sector.
    • The micro-credential is part of the EHU’s university training offering, facilitating access to specialised and up-to-date knowledge in one of the fields with the greatest potential for future growth.
    • With this joint initiative, TECNALIA and the EHU are consolidating their collaboration in the field of training and knowledge transfer, helping to prepare professionals that will be capable of leading innovative projects in biomedicine, digital health and AI.
