Our laboratory specialises in characterising ingredients, nutritional supplements and food products. It has the necessary equipment to carry out physical, chemical and nutritional analyses and research into molecules of functional interest.

Description

This infrastructure is equipped with various analytical techniques for carrying out a complete characterisation of an ingredient, nutritional supplement or food.

The highly specialised laboratory equipment is used in the line of research into metabolomics, for identifying and quantifying metabolites of interest when developing functional products, such as:

  • Texture meter (ANAME).
  • Fibre analyser.
  • Protein analyser.
  • Refractometer.
  • Steam distiller.
  • Water activity meter (NOVASINA).
  • Chromatography and spectrophotometry:
    • UV/VIS (Perkin Elmer).
    • GC/FID (Variant-Agilent).
    • GC/MS (Agilent).
    • Triple quadrupole heart-cutting GC/MS/MS system. CombiPal (Agilent).
    • Semi-preparative liquid chromatography: CombiFlash.
    • HPLC with UV/VIS, fluorescence and refractive index detectors (Agilent).
    • Triple quadrupole UPLC/MS/MS (Waters).
  • MDSC calorimetry (TA Instruments).
  • Optical microscopy (Zeiss).
  • Particle size and Zeta potential analyser (Malvern)
