The International Centre on Ageing (CENIE) holds this event to show the attendees the functionalities of EQUIMETRIX; a portable device to assess and train balance.

EQUIMETRIX’s goal

To assess the quality of the BoS and CoM measured to verify if the newly-established Stability Index can reflect balance situations in different tasks that are a true challenge to balance.

  • Balance control is an essential skill to regulate both static and dynamic functional demands.
  • It is very interesting to have light and portable tools that can quantify the state of balance of the tested individual in real-time (with assessment and/or training purposes).
  • Compared to the current systems, which measure and exclusively analyse the Centre of Pressure (CoP), the Equimetrix device also provides the Stability Index (SI) based on kinematics, both in terms of the Base of Support (BoS) and the Centre of of Mass (Mass).
