"This initiative brings together influential profiles in engineering, innovation and public management"

Recognition of the strategic value of open source in Europe

The European Open Source Academy is holding the second edition of the European Open Source Awards on 29 January at Solvay Library in Brussels. This initiative brings together influential profiles in engineering, innovation and public management to highlight the role of open technologies in Europe's competitiveness and digital empowerment. The event focuses on figures driving the modern digital infrastructure who remain mainly invisible to society, despite their impact in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence or healthcare systems.

We are part of the consortium that runs the European Open Source Awards

    • Through our participation, we reinforce our commitment to collaborative innovation, digital sovereignty and the development of a sustainable technological infrastructure.
    • We bring our expertise in areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence to recognise the work of those who sustain, enhance and scale these critical technologies.
Such partnerships enable us to advance in our mission of transforming technological research into prosperity, generating impact on businesses and public administrations and anticipating the challenges of an increasingly complex digital environment.

An essential infrastructure that remains invisible

Open source software and hardware are the basis of most of today's digital platforms and services. From banking and energy to mobility or public administrations, these technologies are developing more secure, transparent and efficient systems. However, the lack of public recognition and targeted investment remains a challenge to its long-term sustainability.

The European Open Source Awards seek to make this strategic value visible and recognise innovators that build up Europe's technological resilience and competitiveness.

The ceremony will reveal the award winners in Brussels

The event will announce the winner of the Prize for Excellence in Open Source and the winners of special awards for their contribution to advancing open source. The ceremony is part of the European Open Source Week, a gathering that connects policy makers, business leaders and scientific institutions to promote open technologies as a key pillar of Europe's digital transition.
