"Iñaki Martínez, our voice in the Virtual Worlds Association’s European technology agenda"
TECNALIA has joined the Virtual Worlds Association, an initiative that defines the European agenda on Virtual Worlds and Web 4.0
The Virtual Worlds Association (VWA) is a public-private initiative promoted in conjunction with the European Commission within the framework of the Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds strategy. Founded in October 2025, this non-profit association brings together leaders from industry, academia and research centres to build a strong European ecosystem for the development and adoption of virtual worlds.
Its functions include the preparation of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), a document that defines the technological priorities and serves as the basis for the Horizon Europe Work Programme, guiding the topics to be funded over the coming years.
Iñaki Martínez, our voice in the European technology agenda
The incorporation of TECNALIA into the VWA through our colleague, Iñaki, represents a strategic opportunity to directly influence the definition of the European research agenda in virtual worlds.
This participation enables us to:
- Ensure that priorities reflect our capabilities and areas of expertise.
- Create winning consortia for Horizon Europe proposals and future programmes.
- Enhance synergies with key players in XR, digital twins and immersive environments.
Furthermore, we strengthen our position as a reference in applied innovation, accessing information on trends and funding in advance, and contributing to the construction of standards and interoperable solutions that will shape the future of European industry.
