Bilbao, 11 June 2026. Following the success of the first event, the second CyberIndustry Congress will take place on June 16 and 17 in Bilbao, with the aim of making it the leading annual gathering for the entire European cybersecurity value chain. The congress is organised by the Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability through SPRI and TECNALIA, and will play host to 50 experts who will share the latest developments in cybersecurity in Europe with over 350 attendees from 250 companies.
Cybersecurity has become a key technology for the Basque Country due to the ever-increasing digitalisation and interconnection of its strategic sectors. The Basque Country has a strong technological base, particularly in key sectors such as industry, energy, healthcare, and the emerging aerospace industry. They all require advanced cybersecurity solutions to ensure their competitiveness, integrity and resilience.
- The CyberIndustry Congress is aimed at bridging the gap between specialised technology solutions and the real-world needs of strategic sectors, focusing on areas where operational continuity, resilience and technological sovereignty are key to competitiveness and economic security.
- The congress will bring together first-rate national and international speakers, renowned disseminators, leading companies, start-ups, research centres, universities, investors and institutional and sectoral actors.
Speakers
- The welcome address and institutional presentation will take place on Tuesday 16 June at 9.30 am, led by Elixabete García, the Basque Government's Director of Digital Transformation, and Óscar Lage, Director of Cybersecurity Strategy and Technology at TECNALIA and Director of the Congress.
- Following the welcome, the opening address will be given by Jose Ramón Coz Fernandez, Head of Cyber Internal Audits at the European Space Agency (ESA). His presentation will take a look at cybersecurity in the space sector as a unique example of a growing critical system, with specific challenges relating to communications, platforms, the supply chain, service continuity and the protection of strategic capabilities.
- The organisations that have confirmed their attendance include the Elcano Royal Institute, where Darío García de Viedma will deliver a strategic presentation entitled “Geopolitics, technological sovereignty and resilience: the new landscape for strategic sectors”, the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO), whose presentation (in English) will cover the major European challenges in the field of cybersecurity, and the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), whose presentation will focus on analysing the growing importance of secure processing environments and the European Health Data Space.
- Also taking part will be the Basque Cybersecurity Agency (Cyberzaintza), the ZIUR Industrial Cyber Security Centre (Gipuzkoa), the Andalusian Cybersecurity Centre, the Navarre Cybersecurity Centre (NC) and the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya, in a round table discussion on “Regional cybersecurity in action: technological sovereignty and regional protection in the face of a geopolitical environment and rising cybercrime”.
- The event will also feature experts in dissemination and foresight, such as Silvia Leal (an international expert on future trends, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and an advisor to the OECD and the EU), who will speak about agentic (autonomous) AI and the new wave of smart automation that is set to transform technology, companies, decision-making and working models in the coming years.
- Meanwhile, the role of people within organisations will be explored by Koldo Lasala, Senior Talent Advisor and CEO of Meeting Point, who will talk about “AI, people and work: the impact on talent, (university) careers and organisations”, and will take a humanistic look at how AI is reshaping work, professional skills, leadership and the relationship between technology, people and organisations.
Women4Cyber: the talent, leadership and involvement of women in cybersecurity
The congress will also highlight the human dimension and diversity as key drivers of development, including a dedicated section on the European initiative ‘Women4Cyber’: “Women4Cyber: the talent, leadership and involvement of women in cybersecurity”. This is a special section devised to encourage women’s involvement in the cybersecurity sector, raise the profile of leading figures, foster support and collaboration networks, and highlight talent as a key factor in strengthening the ecosystem.
The closing remarks on the first day (4.50 pm) will be delivered by Óscar Lage, Director of the CyberIndustry Congress. The closing remarks on the second day will be delivered at 4.30 pm by Joseba Laka, Digital Director at TECNALIA, together with Óscar Lage.
