TECNALIA has created the TramoIA Intralogistics Robots start-up, a technological solution to automate complex logistics processes
The new start-up has the support of Basque Tek Ventures, a Basque Government initiative aimed at supporting the creation of new technology-based companies and boosting their growth
18th June 2025. The TECNALIA research and technological development centre has created a new start-up to boost innovation in the logistics sector. TramoIA Intralogistics Robots offers robotic solutions with Artificial Intelligence to automate handling and mobility processes in warehouses and distribution centres. As part of the Basque Tek Ventures initiative, the start-up has been supported with capital investment from its own fund.
TramoIA Intralogistics Robots seeks to develop innovative solutions to safely optimise logistics by streamlining key processes, such as order picking, truck loading and unloading and rack handling. It is the result of more than 15 years of research by TECNALIA into robotics for industrial flexibility and the need for logistics companies to have a robot capable of preparing multi-reference orders in warehouses.
TramoIA Intralogistics Robots is currently based in the Parque Científico y Tecnológico de Euskadi in Donostia-San Sebastian. Its business plan for this year focuses on the validation of the existing prototype with companies in the sector in order to start selling these robots in the European market in 2026, with the challenge of making the leap to other continents in the future.
This is a new success story for TECNALIA, which already has twenty invested companies (in December 2024), 100% of which are deeptech start-ups, which saw an 83% increase in employment in 2024 compared to the previous year and whose turnover has reached €74 million.
TramoIA is supported by the Basque Government through the Basque Tek Ventures initiative run by the SPRI Group and Sociedad Gestora de Capital Riesgo del País Vasco. Basque Tek Ventures is a new initiative aimed at supporting, accompanying and investing in the creation of new technology-based companies (deeptech) based on technologies generated by members of the Basque Research & Technology Alliance (BRTA).
The initiative has its own fund (BasquetekVenture, FCR) which invests in the new start-ups. It identifies and prioritises the technological assets with the greatest potential, supports the creation of high-performance teams and accompanies the launch of the company and its access to the market through this technology transfer fund.
