One of the threats to the durability of non-structural sealants for sanitary joints is the appearance of mould and fungi that physically and aesthetically damage the product. The CE marking of sealants for certification indicates that they must be tested in accordance with product standard EN 15651-3.
Here we find the section on biological tests; ISO 846 standard "Evaluation of the action of microorganisms".
- It determines the deterioration of the plastics due to the action of fungi, bacteria, and microorganisms found in the soil. The results obtained from this test shall be used to assign a classification to the sealant tested for biological durability.
Paints and exterior finishes can be affected by fungi, bacteria, and algae. In order to assess their effectiveness, TECNALIA has carried out different tests in our laboratories as per standards UNE-EN 15457, UNE EN 15458, and ISO 22196.
