New course on “Computer vision and artificial intelligence in biomedical applications”

We are launching this micro-credential in an online format in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country. This new, specialised course is aimed at engineers working in research and technological innovation. It provides key training on analysing and processing biomedical signals and applying them in the fields of healthcare, bioengineering and technological research.

The use of biomedical signals is key in many areas of health research, bioengineering and developing new technologies. This course provides a solid foundation for understanding the nature of the main electrophysiological signals and acquiring the skills needed to record, analyse and interpret them correctly.

Course objectives: the fundamentals of biomedical signals

The main objective is for participants to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of biomedical signals and to learn about the tools and methodologies needed to work with them in research and innovation contexts.

    The course will cover:

    • The physiological and technical principles of the main electrophysiological signals.
    • Methodologies for signal acquisition and the design of patient-based experiments.
    • The processing of biomedical signals and the correct representation and interpretation of the results.

    Main contents

The course is structured over 21 hours and divided into four modules, providing a progressive, coherent overview of the entire process of working with biomedical signals:

    1. Biomedical signals
    2. Recording and acquisition
    3. Filtering and quality control
    4. Signal processing and parameterisation techniques

    Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants:

    • Will have a solid grounding in biomedical signals.
    • Will understand the key concepts needed to use acquisition and analysis technologies.
    • Will be equipped to undertake advanced or specialised training in specific areas such as advanced signal processing, multi-channel analysis and specific healthcare applications.

Through this training programme, TECNALIA is reinforcing is reinforcing its commitment to technical training on key technologies for research on health, facilitating access to knowledge that is essential for developing innovative solutions.
