Free Access to Offshore Testing Facilities
Are you developing innovative materials, coatings, or equipment for offshore environments?
The RISEnergy Transnational Access (TA) Programme invites you to apply for free-of-charge access to HarshLab, TECNALIA’s unique offshore testing laboratory.
What is RISEnergy?
RISEnergy provides industrial and academic researchers with seamless, fully funded access to top-tier European research infrastructures focused on renewable energy technologies. Through a transparent and straightforward application process, you can test your solutions in real offshore conditions. RISEnergy may also cover travel and accommodation costs for up to two researchers per project. If more personnel are needed, justification must be provided in the application.
- Testing includes installation, inspection, and decommissioning. Additional services may be budgeted separately.
- This Open Call is only available to non-Spanish entities.
Why HarshLab?
HarshLab is a one-of-a-kind floating laboratory designed to test materials, components, and systems in real marine environments. It supports testing in three exposure zones: atmospheric, splash, and full immersion.
We offer testing for:
- Risers, connectors, and umbilicals: Validate innovative connection systems using our two hull-integrated connectors.
- Operational equipment: Test systems and subsystems for numerical model validation, O&M applications (e.g., SHM), and AI-based data generation.
- Monitoring technologies: Deploy and validate sensors and data acquisition systems. HarshLab includes 3G connectivity, a weather station, GPS tracking, and a mini ROV.
- Corrosion, ageing, and antifouling: Test materials under CX (atmospheric/splash) and Im2 (immersion) corrosivity conditions to assess durability, flexibility, color retention, and more.
