Offshore renewable energy is a business opportunity to increase and diversify the market for companies

Decarbonisation of the energy system, transport, construction, industry and other sectors requires the mass integration of renewable energies. The European Commission estimates that offshore wind energy production alone will increase 25-fold by 2050. Offshore renewable energies are creating interesting business opportunities for a wide range of companies. These business opportunities will enable companies in the sector to grow, but also to diversify their market towards companies historically focused on other sectors: onshorewind power companies, shipyards, manufacturers of electrical material, boilermakers, manufacturers of joining elements, among others. The sea is an energy resource that is currently underutilised.

Market diversification

  • We will discuss the challenges to be faced and the benefits for companies wishing to diversify their market towards the offshorerenewable energy sector.
  • Representatives of leading associations will give us their views on the impact of these opportunities in their respective sectors.
  • DITREL will tell us about a successful case of diversification towards offshorerenewables.
