The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) course was created by Ken Schwaber, co-inventor of SCRUM and founder of, Agile Alliance and Scrum Alliance, as part of his commitment to improve the software development profession. The PSM course is the worldwide training for SCRUM Masters; an effective change agent to streamline your organisation.

What can I get from this course?

  • Knowledge on:
How to identify myths and false conceptions of SCRUM
  • Why SCRUM is so much more than sprints and meetings
  • How real organisations use SCRUM to plan their work
  • How to rethink and remove organisational impediments
  • How to increase the effectiveness of your teams and projects
  • How to resolve conflicts and help people contribute their best

Who is it aimed at?

  • People interested in streamlining the efficiency and effectiveness of software development teams of an organisation (project managers, IT consultants, human resources, experts in QA and IT methodology, etc.).
  • People exercising the role of SCRUM Master in an organisation.

What do I get for successfully completing the training?

What do I need to successfully complete the course?

  • The participant works in SCRUM-inspired learning teams. The training is made up of presentations, exercises, and shared experiences on various aspects, where active participation is required.
  • Attendance to all sessions.

How is this training organised?

  • SCRUM theory and principles: SCRUM is not a trend, it is not project management with Sprints, it is much more than that. Knowing the theory of empirical process control is key to understanding why SCRUM works, and getting the most out of events.
  • The SCRUM framework: SCRUM is not a methodology; it is a framework that must be thoroughly understood in order to define the specific processes of each team and organisation.
  • The Definition of Done: the correct use of the ‘Definition of Done’ is usually the boundary between mediocre SCRUM and the SCRUM that works. It raises impediments and organisational changes that must be explained well as they are the definitive path towards agility.
  • Running a SCRUM project: a project is carried out combining theory and practical team work to learn the SCRUM process; how to plan in different contexts (e.g. closed project, maintenance or internal product development), how to monitor and control development.
  • Working with people and teams: a SCRUM Master is not an agile project manager. It combines coach and mentor roles to help individuals, teams and organisations improve their effectiveness, self-organisation and self-sufficiency. Motivation, communication, team dynamics or conflict resolution are key to the success of a SCRUM Master.
  • SCRUM in your organisation: participants share and reflect ideas on how to carry out change management in their own organisation.
  • The role of the SCRUM Master: the role of SCRUM Master is usually completely new for most organisations, making it a real challenge. Understanding this role in detail helps to both clearly establish organisational expectations and to identify the people who are closest to the role of SCRUM Master.
