"Our genetics laboratory boasts ENAC accreditation No. 4/LE2511 according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC standard"

Our genetics laboratory carries out accredited genetic analysis for human identification, even from skeletal remains

TECNALIA’s genetics laboratory boasts ENAC accreditation No. 4/LE2511 in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, which certifies the technical competence to carry out fully reliable forensic tests.

This accreditation, effective since 29 March 2019 and updated in its fifth review on 9 January 2026, endorses the quality of our procedures in biological fluid detection, DNA extraction and quantification and Autosomal and Y-chromosomal STR analysis.

The accreditation covers essential techniques in forensic genetics, such as blood, semen or saliva identification using immunochromatographic methods or the extraction of DNA from particularly complex samples: hair, epithelial cells, teeth and bone remains.

We are contributing to the recovery of historical memory

More specifically, the technique of DNA extraction from particularly complex samples is key for groups working with degraded human remains, such as recovery of historical memory in the framework of the Law of Democratic Memory, public institutions and research teams that need robust results for identification processes.

For these groups, an accredited laboratory provides guarantees, validated methods, full traceability and internationally recognised results, as ENAC is part of the EA, ILAC and IAF multilateral agreements.

    We meet high scientific standards

In contexts in which each sample is unique and unrepeatable, such as bone remains dating back decades or even centuries, accreditation ensures that the analysis is performed to the highest scientific standards.
