The European MINE.IO project aims to create a comprehensive Digital Mine 4.0 ecosystem that covers the entire mining value chain
MINE.IO includes everything from exploration and extraction to processing, waste management and post-mining activities. It does this by developing an advanced digital infrastructure that integrates cyber-physical systems, predictive analytics and sustainable mining practices.
- The work developed in the MINE.IO project is validated through 21 technologies deployed in six pilot sites in five EU countries.
- This approach provides a unified data platform that improves operational efficiency, reduces environmental impact and supports the transition to autonomous, low-impact mining operations.
TECNALIA’s role in the transformation of mining operations
TECNALIA plays a central role, using cutting-edge AI, optimisation algorithms and distributed registration technologies. These capabilities are applied to transform mining operations along the entire value chain.
TECNALIA’s contributions include advanced production planning and logistics optimisation, as well as the development of traceability and waste management solutions based on blockchain. These solutions enhance transparency, improve safety and increase the efficiency of mining processes.
They also strengthen decision-making and support sustainability goals by integrating AI, big data, cybersecurity and smart optimisation capabilities.
A final workshop to share results and vision for the future
In order to disseminate the results achieved and to engage the mining community, MINE.IO will hold its closing workshop on 7 May at the Politecnico di Torino, both in person and online.
- During the event, attendees will learn about the project’s main technological achievements, the results obtained at the pilot sites and an overview of MINE.IO to move towards safer, more autonomous and sustainable mining.
- The programme includes technical sessions, demonstrations and discussions that invite you to actively participate in shaping the mining sector of the future.
