"We develop test environments to facilitate the deployment of advanced services for smart grids"
The VirQA initiative has strengthened the Basque digital technology ecosystem for smart grids
A year of work to accelerate the digitalisation of the electricity sector
The VirQA initiative has come to an end this month, after twelve months of research into the application of digital technologies in smart grids.
The meeting was held at TECNALIA and brought together the members of the consortium; TECNALIA, ZIV, Ormazabal and the University of the Basque Country (EHU) along with the advisory committee, which is made up of strategic companies, such as Alianza Prime, Aclara, the Energy Cluster and Ingeteam.
Objective: experimental environments for smart grids
VirQA's main purpose was to develop test environments that facilitate the deployment of advanced components and services for smart grids.
These advances enable power grids to evolve towards smarter, safer and more efficient models, consolidating the Basque ecosystem's position as a benchmark in digital technologies applied to energy.
Technology transfer and industrial competitiveness
During the session, the advisory committee validated the lines of work and analysed opportunities for technology transfer to the market. This close collaboration between technology players and leading companies drives the digitalisation of the electricity sector and opens up new avenues for industrial competitiveness.
