AI-based robotics comes to the European Parliament

    We participated in a demonstration of advanced robotics in Brussels along with 15 robots equipped with artificial intelligence

    The European Parliament has hosted a demonstration of the most advanced robotic technologies developed in Europe, in which 15 robots equipped with artificial intelligence showcased how this technology is transforming industry, increasing productivity and helping to address some of the continent’s major social and economic challenges.

    The initiative is part of euROBIN, the European Network of Centres of Excellence in Robotics funded by Horizon Europe. TECNALIA has contributed to the development of new industrial capabilities for advanced robots based on collaborative robotics, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

    Robots for a more efficient and sustainable industry

    The robots showcased during the event incorporate capabilities designed to operate in increasingly complex industrial environments. These include capabilities to support people in demanding tasks, increase safety and ergonomics in the workplace and help ease the labour shortage that affects many industrial sectors as a result of an ageing population.

    TECNALIA’s participation in this European ecosystem strengthens the positioning of technology developed in the Basque Country in strategic fields, such as advanced automation, applied artificial intelligence and collaborative robotics, which are key technologies for the industry of the future.

    Fostering European leadership in robotics and AI

    The event brought together representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and industrial companies to discuss the role of robotics and artificial intelligence in European competitiveness.

    • It provided an opportunity to analyse how to speed up the adoption of these technologies in industry and strengthen Europe’s leadership in an increasingly competitive global market.
    • At the same time, it encouraged the development of solutions that contribute to social welfare and the improvement of working conditions.

    euROBIN, a major European robotics innovation network

    euROBIN is one of Europe’s most ambitious collaborative initiatives in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence. The project brings together 32 partners from 14 countries in order to create a common infrastructure to develop, validate and deploy AI-based robots.

    The network facilitates the exchange of knowledge, data, software and experimentation platforms between research centres, universities and companies, thereby speeding up technology transfer and enabling innovations to reach the market more quickly.

    Thanks to initiatives such as euROBIN, Europe is moving towards an innovation ecosystem that is capable of driving new generations of robots that are smarter, more autonomous and better equipped to meet the industrial and social challenges of the coming decades.
