Insulated power cables increasingly present in smart grids

13 June 2019

We will be presenting our electrical testing laboratory at the International Conference on Insulated Cables in Versailles

Insulated power cables are crucial for electricity generation, distribution, transport and smart grids. The fact that the majority of these cables are installed underground or even embedded in the seabed means that electrical insulation and mechanical protection must be at maximum levels.

Insulated accessories such as cable terminals and splices, if required, are incorporated into cable systems so that underground circuits can reach great lengths.

Our electrical laboratories have been working in the insulated cable sector for over 15 years:

  • Laboratory type tests for cables and cable systems of up to 220 kV, in accordance with IEC standards.
  • Tests prior to commissioning cables of up to 400 kV, according to the company’s standards, regulations and specifications.
  • Failure analysis of cables and accessories.
  • Supplier qualifications and inspections of supplies, including manufacturing plants and specific cable models.

All testing activities carried out in our laboratories and on-site are performed under the ENAC ILAC accreditation according to ISO 17025.
