More than 70 entrepreneurs express an interest in our Deep Tech initiatives

The University of the Basque Country and TECNALIA Ventures, TECNALIA’s Deep Tech venture builder, attracted more than 70 potential entrepreneurs during the Entrepreneurial Talent Forum held at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Bilbao.

The University of the Basque Country and TECNALIA Ventures, TECNALIA’s Deep Tech venture builder, attracted more than 70 entrepreneurs interested in Deep Tech initiatives during the Entrepreneurial Talent Forum held at the Faculty of Economics and Business of Bilbao

On Wednesday 4 October, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and TECNALIA Ventures, TECNALIA’s Deep Tech venture builder, held a joint Entrepreneurial Talent Forum, which was attended by more than 70 entrepreneurs interested in Deep Tech initiatives. During the forum, both organisations presented technology-based entrepreneurial initiatives looking to to strengthen their teams of promoters. 

The forum was officially opened by Jon Barrutia, Dean of the UPV/EHU’s Faculty of Economics and Business; Jesús Sanz, Director of Business Strategy at TECNALIA; Noemi Peña, Director of Entrepreneurship and Transfer at the UPV/EHU; and Goizalde Hernando, Co-Director of the UPV/EHU’s Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and Business Management (MBAe3). 

TECNALIA’s startups and entrepreneurial initiatives

TECNALIA presented the following initiatives and startups during the Entrepreneurial Talent Forum: 

  • W2UWANT: solution for the optimisation of last mile logistics. 
  • H2SITE: deep tech start-up with a membrane reactor factory for the separation and production of hydrogen on site, offering solutions for its transport. 
  • IZPITEK: deep tech start-up devoted to the development of photovoltaic products integrated into lightweight structural components. 
  • BIOKEMIK: deep tech start-up devoted to the development of biochemical and sustainable products and processes with high added value from renewable resources. 

UPV/EHU entrepreneurial startups

The UPV/EHU presented the following startups during the Entrepreneurial Talent Forum:

  • UBYKO: robotics and automation for last mile logistics.
  • ROSEO: start-up devoted to urban wind power.
  • TRODEXA: startup that offers a marketplace for events and food products.
  • ALETHIA: start up devoted to forestry digitalisation.
  • WITALGAE: start-up that markets microalgae biomass for the food sector.

Bilateral meetings between entrepreneurs and promoters

Once the representatives had given the presentations of the startups and entrepreneurial initiatives, they had the chance to hold bilateral meetings with interested people in order to assess whether they were potentially a good fit for their promoter teams.
