Open call for the Zinamaldia Startup Challenge 2020

12 May 2020

The winning project will be awarded 10,000 euros: entries may be submitted until 1st June

Zinemaldia Startup Challenge is a competitions for technological projects in the audiovisual field aimed at entrepreneurs and business start-ups. Like last year, this initiative forms part of the Zinemaldia & Technology event, promoted by the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government, organised by the San Sebastian International Film Festival, TECNALIA, Tabakalera and Petronor, and supported by the Vicomtech Research Centre.

During the SSIFF this September, the winning project will be selected by an independent panel and awarded 10,000 euros. Both the winner and the four finalists will also be eligible for funding of up to 500,000 euros in order to develop their project in the Basque Country.

Zinemaldia & Technology constitutes a meeting point for technologists, filmmakers and professionals in this industry. It is worth noting that past meetings have been attended by filmmaker J.A. Bayona or visual effects artist Lucía Peralta, who shared their knowledge and experiences with the audience.

Similarly, we have made a sound contribution to the programme with the presentation of new audiovisual projects incorporating technology, explained by their entrepreneurial managers. Virtual reality, augmented reality or neuroscience are some of the tools that are brining value to projects in the sector.
