The distribution of tourism, tourists’ behaviour and their socio-economic impact on the region are the major challenges
The prize-giving ceremony for the AMT Smart Destinations Awards 2020 was held on 23rd January at the FiturtechY forum. TECNALIA and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council have received the "Governance" Award for the Hodeian initiative.
Hodeian compiles and analyses tourist information from different sources and formats in order to define the current situation with the highest level of reliability and therefore help responsible agents in decision-making. The ultimate goal of this tool is to understand the tourism distribution, tourists' behaviour and their socio-economic impact on the region.
The jury, made up of representatives of AMT, ITH, Segittur and Invattur, selected the finalist tools and technological solutions in five categories based on their contribution to the implementation of a smart tourist destination (STI)
The finalists will be included in the on-line catalogue of technological solutions, which is available for the pioneering destinations that form part of the Sun and Beach Tourist Municipalities Alliance (AMT) and other interested destinations.
In this third edition, with more than fifty candidates, the award winners are Ilunion Hotels in the category of “Accessibility”, Travelest in “Tourist and Citizen Interaction”, Envirosuite in “Sustainability” and Yarr TV in the category of “Promotion and Marketing”, as well as TECNALIA and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council in the “Governance” category.
