TECNALIA secures representation on two key bodies in relation to the European AI Act

    1 July 2026

    AI Act

“Javier del Ser and Erkuden Ríos represent TECNALIA on bodies that advise the European Commission”

TECNALIA joins the steering committee of the AI Act

TECNALIA will take a significant step forward in Europe by joining two of the key advisory bodies regarding the AI Act. This regulation sets out the framework for artificial intelligence in Europe. Our involvement strengthens our ability to provide expert knowledge when it is rolled out.

More specifically, Javier del Ser will be a member of the Scientific Panel, and Erkuden Ríos will be a member of the Advisory Forum. Both bodies advise the European Commission, the AI Office and the AI Board. Their mission is to provide expert knowledge to make sure that the implementation is rigorous, safe and in line with technological and social challenges.

    Technical depth and practical insight

The Scientific Panel acts as an independent group of scientific and technical experts. Its focus is on highly complex areas:

    • general purpose AI models
    • systemic risks
    • evaluation methodologies and benchmarks
    • technical support for supervision and enforcement

The Advisory Forum takes a multi-stakeholder approach. It brings together representatives from industry, academia, civil society and SMEs. Its contribution focuses on:

    • the practical implementation of regulations
    • standardisation
    • sectoral impact
    • public policy issues

    A complementary contribution in Europe

Our involvement in both bodies covers two key aspects of the AI Act:

    • independent scientific evidence: from the Scientific Panel
    • practical, wide-ranging advice: from the Advisory Forum

This complementary approach ensures that there is a balance between technical rigour and practical applicability. In this way, we are able to help ensure that the regulations have a real impact on companies, public authorities and society, in line with our mission to bring technology to the workplace.
