    “TECNALIA moderated a session with international experts to define how to integrate AI solutions into healthcare systems”

    The Estonian HealthTech Week 2025, one of the leading events in digital health innovation, took place on 25-30 August in Tartu, Estonia.

    TECNALIA was represented by Sergio Muñoz, expert in digital health and Head of Digital Health & Emerging Technologies, who moderated Session 4 on 28 August: “Procurement of AI Systems: Navigating the Market”.

    The key issue: how to integrate AI into healthcare systems safely and ethically?

    The round table addressed one of the most critical questions in responsible innovation in digital health: How can healthcare systems acquire artificial intelligence (AI) solutions effectively, ensuring safety, value and trust?

    The discussion brought together perspectives from regulatory, clinical, industry and investment management, with the aim of exploring strategies for the ethical and safe implementation of AI in real-life healthcare settings.

    Sergio was joined by a panel of leading experts:

    • Dr Stephan Binder: co-founder and COO of Kalms Consulting, with extensive experience in digital transformation in healthcare.
    • Elizabeth Jennings: Managing partner of Venture Atlas Labs, specialising in innovative business models for emerging technologies.
    • Dr Khulood Alsayegh: expert in healthcare regulations and member of the Dubai Health Authority, who provided an overview of regulatory frameworks.

    During the session, Sergio highlighted the importance of aligning innovation, regulation and procurement strategies:

    “Integrating AI solutions into healthcare systems requires a collaborative approach. This session provided a practical framework for institutions, so that they can confidently navigate a constantly evolving marketplace”.

    Global collaboration to accelerate ethical adoption of AI

    The event was organised by the Estonian HealthTech Week team, led by Jaanus Pikani, Sven Parkel and Triin Vakker, whom Sergio Muñoz publicly thanked for their invitation and support.

    The session generated a rich dialogue between experts and attendees, which highlighted the need for collaborative frameworks between regulators, technology providers and health systems to accelerate the safe and ethical adoption of AI in healthcare.
