“TECNALIA is at the forefront of ÁNIMA, the Spanish Association for Humanoid Robotics and Physical AI, to speed up innovation and industrial competitiveness”
The ÁNIMA association is made up of companies, technology centres and universities to strengthen a strategic value chain for industry and society
TECNALIA has joined ÁNIMA, the new Spanish Association for Humanoid Robotics and Physical AI. The organisation was set up to drive an industrial and technological ecosystem that will position Spain among Europe’s leading players in a technology set to transform industry, services and caring for people.
An initiative to consolidate an emerging sector
The creation of ÁNIMA marks a significant step forward in the development of humanoid robotics and physical AI in Spain. The association is led by the AFM Clúster and AER Automation and is made up of manufacturers, developers of artificial intelligence, system integrators, technology centres, universities and end-user companies with the aim of speeding up the adoption and industrialisation of these technologies.
TECNALIA is contributing to this initiative through the association’s vice-president, Agustín J. Sáenz, TECNALIA’s Director of Strategy, Market and Technology. This involvement reinforces our commitment to developing technologies that combine artificial intelligence, automation and advanced robotics to tackle the challenges facing industry and society.
TECNALIA’s commitment to humanoid robotics and physical AI
Humanoid robotics is one of the most significant developments in advanced automation. Robots are gaining new capabilities, thanks to the convergence of artificial intelligence, machine vision, simulation, and advanced sensors and control systems, that allow them to function in environments designed for people.
- At TECNALIA, we are working on intelligent robotics solutions that are capable of collaborating with people in industrial, logistics and service environments.
- Our work focuses on developing autonomous systems, perception technologies, cognitive control and applied artificial intelligence that lead to safer, more flexible and more efficient interaction between people and machines.
An opportunity for industrial competitiveness
Physical AI extends beyond humanoid robots. These capabilities can also be integrated into collaborative robots, autonomous mobile systems, machinery and production equipment. This development opens up new opportunities to increase productivity, tackle talent shortages in certain roles and improve workplace safety.
Spain has unique technological and industrial capabilities in areas such as actuators, sensors, electronics, artificial intelligence, software, system integration and advanced manufacturing. ÁNIMA was set up to bring these capabilities together and strengthen a value chain with significant growth potential.
At TECNALIA, we will continue to promote collaborative initiatives that make it possible to turn knowledge into high-impact solutions for industry. This new association is an ideal framework for speeding up technology transfer, creating new business opportunities and strengthening Spain’s position in a market with enormous international potential.
