"TECNALIA assesses all types of works safety net systems as per UNE-EN 1263-1 and UNE 81652"
We assess all types of works safety net systems (S, T, U, V and under falsework) as per UNE-EN 1263-1 and UNE 81652 to guarantee their real reliability under conditions of use
We prevent serious accidents in construction and civil works
Safety nets are one of the most critical elements in the prevention of serious accidents in construction and civil engineering. Therefore, only tests carried out in an independent laboratory can confirm whether a system actually meets the applicable regulatory requirements.
We assess all types of works safety net systems as per UNE-EN 1263-1 and UNE 81652
We test Temporary Works Equipment (TWE) at our Structural Safety Laboratory.
- We have the capacity and technical knowledge to assess all types of works safety net systems, as per the two industry reference standards: UNE-EN 1263-1, which regulates the requirements and test methods for S, T, U and V safety nets, and UNE 81652, specific for nets under falsework used in the initial phases of construction.
- Both standards set strict criteria to ensure that these systems provide the necessary collective protection against falls from height.
- We work with nets made of synthetic fibres, such as polypropylene or polyamide, subjecting them to impact, resistance, deformation and energy absorption tests that reproduce real conditions of use.
We check the essential parameters
Standard UNE-EN 1263-1 defines the test methods to verify essential parameters, such as the resistance of the mesh and the perimeter rope, the energy absorption capacity by falling mass, the admissible deformation under impact, the performance of the whole system (net, supports and fixings) and the dimensional and manufacturing requirements.
Standard UNE 81652 establishes additional requirements for nets under falsework, which are essential in formwork and in the initial phases of construction, where the risk of falling is particularly high.
TECNALIA tests all of the systems set out in UNE-EN 1263-1 and UNE 81652:
- System S corresponds to horizontal nets with perimeter rope installed under work areas.
- System T consists of nets mounted on perimeter frames used to protect edges and façades.
- System U is based on railing-type vertical nets for protection on slab edges and roofs.
- System V groups together gallows-style nets, which are essential in complex structures or in areas where it is not possible to install conventional protection.
- Nets under falsework are collective protection systems installed in the initial stages of construction, just below the formwork or work plane, with the aim of stopping or limiting the fall of people, tools or objects during the assembly of falsework.
We are an independent laboratory
Testing in an independent laboratory such as TECNALIA means reducing risks, ensuring conformity assessment and protecting workers with verifiable data. Furthermore, it allows manufacturers, installers and construction companies to demonstrate that their systems meet the legal and technical works requirements.
