“TECNALIA received the prize for the best transfer paper at the National Cybersecurity Research Days”

For the fourth consecutive year, TECNALIA has received a prestigious RENIC Cybersecurity Research Award

This award, granted in collaboration with the Spanish National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), highlights the excellence and impact of TECNALIA’s research activity in the field of cybersecurity.

The winning paper, entitled Virtual QKD Network Simulator: A Testbed for Integrating Physical and Simulated QKD Systems, has been developed by: Aitor Brazaola-Vicario, Alejandra Ruiz, Aitor Moreno Fernández de Leceta, Jorge López, Jaime García García, Félix De Pedraza Hernández, Diego Muñoz Martín, Óscar Lage and Eduardo Jacob.

      • This paper presents Virtual QKD (VQKD), an advanced simulator for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) networks, which enables a realistic reproduction of quantum links at the key management layer and their integration with already deployed physical systems.
      • Thanks to its modular and flexible design, VQKD facilitates the validation of hybrid (quantum-classical) architectures, simulating key exchange through classical channels compatible with industry standards such as ETSI-014 and ETSI-020.

A boost for knowledge and technology transfer

This award strengthens TECNALIA’s commitment to the transfer of knowledge and technology to businesses, public administrations and society in general, facilitating the adoption of innovative solutions to face current cybersecurity challenges.

The goal is to continue to create value through applied research, helping to develop products and services that ensure digital trust in all sectors.

TECNALIA would like to thank RENIC and the JNIC organisation for this award, and congratulate the entire team for their dedication and excellence. TECNALIA will continue to work to promote cybersecurity and technological innovation, working closely with SMEs, public administrations and society as a whole.
