ROBOTICS IN TECNALIA

The new society is opening a new relation between persons and machines. After more than two and a half centuries of industrial culture, humans and machines start collaborating on different rules and mutual respect.

Robotics plays a key role in this new in this society and industry. Not only in factory's workshops, but also in hospitals and private homes, new concepts break down borders and lead us in to another dimension and opportunities. In industry, need of product customization drives us to a more flexible production, able to adequate to a changing demand and diverse environment. Robotics is the tool to achieve it.

TECNALIA is working in technologies that allow us to develop a flexible robotics, easy programming and mobile robotic devices. Maximal precision is required for surgical robotics which is opening a vast new land of research.

Our knowledge and experience in robotics is devoted to different orientation: industry and medical applications. We consider robots as products, but also robots as tools, with different configurations, including smartness, autonomy, dual arm concepts, wearable devices, surgical and neuro-rehabilitation applications.

FACILITIES

InstalacionesWe use a complete set of robotic devices in our facilities at San Sebastian and Montpellier. We work with all global robot manufacturers as Fanuc, Kuka, ABB, Kawada, Universal Robots among others.

We use commercial equipment and specific grips and tools for different projects.

In Montpellier we have installed the European biggest operative cable robot prototype.


For medical robotics, we use a biomechanical motion laboratory to study human motion through several platforms. We can mention a real-time digital motion capture system, a force platform, pressure distribution sensing mats, Gait analysis, force sensors and a portable electromyography, heartrate & respiratory rate sensor.
