International Presence

Open innovation. In the Sustainable Construction division we work on Technological Cooperation in developing countries, to contribute in increasing their growth and progress capacity.

International Cooperation Projects

For institutional and technical strengthening and training, and application of advanced technological solutions, fully adapted to local requirements.

  • CUBA: Sustainable Construction has a constant presence in the country through the development of International Cooperation Projects that have been developed since 2004, at a rhythm of 2 per year. Tecnalia is strongly positioned with the Historian's Office of Old Havana, collaborating in innovative projects for the development of policies, methodologies and systems for the valuation of the Cultural Heritage of the city.
  • ECUADOR: In Ecuador, jointly with the United Nations, we are implementing a cooperation strategy with the National Cultural Heritage Institute, in the fields of management, conservation and valuation of Cultural Heritage. Moreover, the competitiveness of the production network improves through the creation of the first Construction Technology Centre in Ecuador. The added-value provided by TECNALIA is the institutional accompanying in complex development processes and the strengthening of public institutions.
  • CYPRUS: Jointly with the United Nations, we are participating in the preservation of an important cultural element (Othello's tower) which is located in the frontier between both areas of Cyprus. Cultural institutions of both areas participate in joint management planning, facilitating the intercultural dialogue between these institutions, thus contributing to the normalisation of the relationships in the country that suffer from the existing social and political tension.
  • CROATIA: Sisak, Smart Energy City is an innovative project led by TECNALIA which allows the industrial city of Sisak to be placed in a leading position in the area of the Balkans. Similarly, the alignment of the project with the main European policies has contributed to establish alliances with other European cities and institutions. United Nations has funded the design of the Set Plan.

Direct collaboration with Companies and Institutions

  • ECUADOR: Creation of the Applied Technological Research and Innovation Centre (CIITA) in the Construction centre in Azuay (Ecuador). For this, 3 work phases were defined, of which the first one has already been completed: "Comprehensive proposal regarding the feasibility of the creation of the CIITA", having verified the need to create a Technology Centre and defining its departments, technology lines, legal definition, etc.
