An acoustic-quality on-site verification order for finished buildings was approved in the Basque Country

2017.04.21

TECNALIA offers acoustic characterisation testing of materials and systems to be integrated in the building.

From 12th January 2017, when the Building Acoustic Control Order became effective, on-site verification of the finished building acoustic quality was enacted, as standard in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (link to Order).

This Order, part of the Construction Quality Control Decree (link to Decree 209/2014), stems from the intent to set forth control systems to help achieve the acoustic comfort levels established in buildings (link to DB-HR basic document on sound protection of the Spanish Technical Building Code).

With the passing of this new Order, this intent has been reinforced, including the drafting of a minimum protocol for acoustic measurements in the building to be included in the Quality Control Plan. This boosts acoustic consideration throughout the work design and execution process, as a key issue for home end users.

The Basque Government LCCE Acoustic laboratory, jointly managed by Tecnalia, offers acoustic characterisation testing of materials and systems to be integrated in the building, during the design, selection and reception phases, prior to work completion verifications.
