Technology as a lever for social inclusion

The II FUTURE POSITIVE Meeting: challenges for inclusive technology, organised by the Juan XXIII Foundation provides a space for reflection and knowledge on how technology can really contribute to the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

The conference brings together social entities, technology companies and universities to share practical experiences, pilot projects and research that demonstrate the potential of technological innovation applied to areas such as personal autonomy and social and labour inclusion.

In this context, TECNALIA will be participating as a speaker, providing its vision and experience in advanced people-focused technologies.

What will be addressed at this meeting?

During the meeting, different approaches and experiences related to inclusive technology will be addressed, including:

    • Application of immersive technologies (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality) in intellectual disability contexts.
    • Development of accessible technological solutions designed for use by non-technological entities.
    • Real cases of collaboration between social entities, technology companies and universities.
    • Good practices and lessons learned from innovation projects with social impact.

    Target audience

    This event is aimed at:

    • Professionals and organisations in the social sector.
    • Technology companies and professionals interested in innovation with social impact.
    • Universities, research centres and actors from the academic ecosystem.
    • People interested in technology as a driver of social transformation.

    TECNALIA's contribution

Our colleagues, Ana Moya and Leire Bastida will participate in the meeting with a presentation focusing on how advanced technology can generate real impact in the social field, especially in the context of intellectual disability.

They will present experiences and projects that show how immersive technologies and digital tools help improve the autonomy, emotional health and social and labour inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

    Their presentation will address:

    • Previous experiences in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, developed in conjunction with social entities, which illustrate the use of these technologies in real contexts of inclusion.
    • Kayrox, a no-code tool that enables your own Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications to be created, making it easier for non-technological organisations to design and apply immersive solutions adapted to their needs.
    • Preview of a new project in the pipeline, aimed at social and labour inclusion, which uses Virtual Reality environments to assess the state of people with intellectual disabilities when facing a job interview. This approach enables situations that generate blockages or stress to be identified and the personalisation of support processes to access employment.

    Participating entities

The programme will also include the participation of key social, technological and academic entities, including:

    • XRLab -Nokia Spain, responsible for the institutional and technical opening of the event.
    • Madrid Polytechnic-University (UPM), with the presentation of the INCLUVERSO project, developed in conjunction with Nokia.
    • INROBICS, in collaboration with Carlos III University.
    • Other social and technological entities with specialised presentations.
