ITS roll-out for sustainable mobility
The 23rd edition of the Spanish Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is being held, organised by ITS Spain and ITS Iberoamerica and chaired by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Public Works.
Bizkaia Connected Corridor
Olga Alonso, Head of the Bizkaia Connected Corridor project, Digital Technologies Laboratory at TECNALIA will present:
- Bizkaia Connected Corridor (BCC), a strategic project being developed between the Bizkaia Provincial Council and TECNALIA. Companies will be able to test pioneering technologies for autonomous, connected and cooperative mobility and smart infrastructures in an experimental environment.
- One of BCC's objectives is to digitise the road network through the implementation of a new C-ITS technological ecosystem, which enables vehicle-infrastructure and vehicle-vehicle communication through alerts on the state of the road.
- Numerous cooperative communication beacons have been installed, which receive and issue messages from traffic and vehicle control centres regarding congestion, road works or obstacles on the carriageway, among others. On the other hand, IoT technologies are being implemented on various infrastructures of the Biscay network, which will act as digital twins.
TECNALIA is developing a testing platform that uses BIM, Cloud, IoT and Big Data technologies where the instrumented models of the aforementioned infrastructures are rolled-out.
- C-ITS and IoT data will be available for exploitation in a datahub.
