FUTURED, the Spanish Technology Platform for Smart Grids, is organising a conference on 23 September 2026 to present the findings of the Climate Risks Working Group
This initiative seeks to enhance understanding of the impact of climate change on electrical grids and identify adaptation strategies that increase the resilience of the energy system.
- The session will bring together representatives from the organisations that have led and contributed to this work, including e-Distribución and TECNALIA, as leaders of the Working Group, alongside organisations such as the , the Spanish Climate Change Office (OECC) and UFD, part of the Naturgy Group.
- The meeting will provide an opportunity to share the key findings and to discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise in the adaptation of electrical grids to climate change.
Presentation of the assessment of climate impact on the electrical grid
- One of the key moments of the meeting will be the presentation of the document “Diagnosis and analysis of climate impact on the electrical grid”, drawn up within the framework of the Climate Risks Working Group. The session will feature Efrén Feliu, Head of Adaptation to Climate Change at TECNALIA, alongside representatives from OECC and e-Distribución.
- The programme also includes a round-table discussion on adaptation to climate change,, featuring Jorge Paz, a researcher at TECNALIA, and experts from various organisations and institutions linked to the energy and climate sectors.
- The debate will address the challenges facing electrical infrastructures in light of an increase in extreme weather events and the measures required to increase their resilience.
A collaborative platform to accelerate climate adaptation
This event provides an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the findings of the FUTURED Climate Risks Working Group, exchange experiences amongst the sector’s key actors and move towards electrical grids that are better equipped to cope with the effects of climate change.
