The CRANEBOT® system provides flexibility, accuracy, positional and rotational control (6 degrees of freedom), quality, ergonomics and safety in manufacturing large parts and in large workspaces.
CRANEBOT® is a flexible robotic crane based on cable robotics for handling, assembling and automating operations for large parts, customised parts in short production runs or in large workspaces.
Unique infrastructure in Europe with flexibility, accuracy, control and load capacity
The CRANEBOT® system is a unique cable-driven robot installation (cable-driven parallel robots – CDPR).
Its versatility makes it suitable for indoor, outdoor and even marine environments. It is also suitable for confined spaces and does not take up much floor space.
The demonstrator is available to assess technological feasibility in concrete use cases, reducing the risk assumed by the customer and making it possible to calculate the improvement that the use of this technology would mean. This makes it possible to provide customers with peace of mind and reassurance regarding the technological solutions provided by TECNALIA.
The adaptability of the system makes it possible to provide load-bearing structures other than bridge cranes, such as solutions based on columns, beams and self-supporting structures, which integrate winches and pulley blocks.
There is also the option of the simplified CRANEBOT solution, without a hoist and secondary bridge.
CRANEBOT® increases the efficiency and safety of processes, thereby reducing the risk of damage to parts.
This version of CRANEBOT is 50% more accurate than the old version. It has the ability to reduce the risk of damaging parts thanks to accurate, controlled handling in terms of both position and rotation.
Operators do not need to be involved in rotating operations or guiding large parts, thereby improving ergonomics.
The flexibility of the system makes it possible to assemble any gripper, headstock and even manipulator/robotic arm for a wide range of operations in different sectors.
It can operate as a positioning device in large workspaces that are home to robotic manipulators for dexterity tasks.
A few facts to substantiate the value of CRANEBOT®.
- It reduces cycle times by up to 75%.
- Only one operator is needed to control the system.
- 95% reduction in musculoskeletal injuries to operators.
- 90% reduction in workplace accidents associated with handling heavy loads.
- It has a CE marking.
- TECNALIA has an industrialisation partner, which would be responsible for supplying a turnkey development.
- Best Paper Award for the HEPHAESTUS project at the ISARC 2020 congress in Japan: “Highly automatEd PHysical Achievements and PerformancES using cable roboTs Unique Systems”. The project is coordinated by TECNALIA.
