“TECNALIA teams were winners in the First Datathon of the Cervera AI4ES Network of Excellence”

First AI4ES Datathon Awards Ceremony

Last February, the awards ceremony was held for the First Datathon of the Cervera AI4ES Network of Excellence, a network of excellence in data-based enabling technologies, made up of the CTIC, EURECAT, ITI and TECNALIA technology centres, in collaboration with the Catalonia Government’s Department of Health and BASF.

The main objective of the AI4ES Datathon was to encourage the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and data analytics; solve the business and social challenges of the processing of large volumes of data; and recognise the best projects presented to address these challenges.

Challenges of the AI4ES Datathon

In its 2022 edition, the AI4ES Datathon posed two different challenges:

  • Challenge A: Disease detection and quantification based on drone imagery for crop protection (BASF)
  • Challenge B: incidence and evolution of viral diseases (Catalonia Government’s Department of Health)

People of legal age could participate in this Datathon, either individually or in teams, in the following categories: future promises, specialists and AI4ES members. A total of 79 entries were received, of which 44 (56%) were for Challenge A and 35 (44%) for Challenge B, with 55% participation in the Future Promises category, 34% in specialists and 11% in AI4ES members.

TECNALIA was among the winners

Following the jury’s deliberation, the TECNALIA teams were the winners for each of the challenges posed. This recognition reinforces TECNALIA's work and expertise in the field of artificial intelligence and data analytics technologies.
