We incorporate antioxidant and antimicrobial properties to extend the shelf life of packaged food
Through the Newpack initiative we will validate, in a relevant industrial environment, the production of new competitive and sustainable bioplastic for food packaging. The materials will have improved mechanical properties, which will make them more competitive than traditionally used plastic.
Furthermore, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties will be added in order to extend the shelf life of packaged food, whilst preserving their nutritional value and texture. This represents a clear improvement compared to already existing bioplastics, and makes these new materials an innovative solution for the food sector.
