The Spanish Standardisation Body, UNE, has published the report " Standardisation in Cybersecurity for Connected and Automated Mobility of Vehicles and their Environment". This study aims to get ahead of the planned development in cooperative intelligent transport systems and the advances in vehicle connectivity with the surroundings. Furthermore, was created to prepare the technical standards that, on the one hand, enable the necessary interoperability of all the elements of these huge transport systems and, on the other hand, standardise the necessary security and privacy requirements to provide sufficient guarantees to these particularly critical systems.

Among other actions, advances in the field of standards and regulations that are currently being developed at a governmental level and by the different agents of the sector are analysed. The technical standardisation bodies, standards and most relevant initiatives related to Cybersecurity and Privacy in the general field of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) are also identified. In the particular case of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs), we make use of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and the communication and connectivity technologies involved.

Connected and Automated Mobility

The need for new technical standards in the industry of Connected and Automated Mobility is highlighted in order to address the inherent risks of cybersecurity and privacy, as a result of technological advances in this field. This report serves as the base for the development of future initiatives in the field of standardisation in cybersecurity and privacy of smart mobility and connected vehicles, bringing together and forming consensus with the efforts of the sector’s leading experts and companies.

The report has been coordinated by the Official Association of Technical Telecommunications Engineers (COITT). Relevant public bodies, associations, universities and companies from the telecommunications and cybersecurity sector have participated in its drafting. The participation of the experts from TECNALIA, Estíbaliz Amparan and Ángel López, can be highlighted.
