“The initiative, launched in 2021, aims to empirically analyse national and supranational recovery packages to assess their potential impact on low-carbon innovation”

The OECD and Breakthrough Energy, the Bill Gates foundation, have organised an event called “Accelerating Clean Innovation for Independent Energy and Climate Neutrality" in which Asier Rufino, CEO of TECNALIA Ventures, took part as a speaker

The event “Accelerating Clean Innovation for Independent Energy and Climate Neutrality” was held in Paris on 6 July. This event is part of the “Accelerating Low-Carbon Innovation Through Post-COVID Recovery Packages” project created by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the contribution of Breakthrough Energy.

The project, launched in 2021, aims to empirically analyse national and supranational recovery packages to assess their potential impact on low-carbon innovation. As part of that initiative, the event, also organised by the OECD and Breakthrough Energy, gathered international experts to analyse and develop policy recommendations on how to better design and implement public investments, in order to foster low-carbon innovation, taking into account the specific features of each country.

About the “Accelerating Low-Carbon Innovation" project

The “Accelerating Low-Carbon Innovation Through Post-COVID Recovery Packages” project was launched in December 2021 and will end in June 2023. The aim is to position technology and innovation as key elements in the transition to net-zero emission economies, and thus an essential part of economic resilience and growth.

The project, led by the OECD’s Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, in collaboration with the OECD’s Environment Directorate, also benefits from the voluntary contribution of Breakthrough Energy, and investment fund created in 2015 by Bill Gates and private investors to support innovation that helps the world to achieve net-zero emissions.
