DEKTON® and SILESTONE® obtain TECNALIA Certification for recycled content

COSENTINO, world leader in the production of innovative and sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, has obtained the Certificate of Recycled Content issued by TECNALIA Certificación. This certification guarantees the recycled content of DEKTON® and SILESTONE® products in accordance with the ISO 14021:2016 international standard.

The voluntary ISO 14021 standard specifies the requirements for Type II Environmental Labelling. These Environmental Labels and Declarations can be seen in the form of statements, symbols, graphics or text, indicating a characteristic environmental aspect in the product life cycle.

Third party verification of Environmental Declarations carried out by TECNALIA Certificación ensures reliability, accuracy, coherence and transparency, guaranteeing the validity of the environmental claim for current or potential buyers of the products.

Recycled material

By means of this certificate, TECNALIA Certificación guarantees that products manufactured by COSENTINO contain a minimum percentage of recycled material obtained from "pre-consumer" materials that are diverted from the waste stream.

Silestone® uses diverse recycled materials, such as glass: ensuring at least 20% recycled material in the certified colours that are manufactured under the pioneering HybriQ+® technology.

Dekton®, on the other hand, uses waste produced during the manufacturing process itself, in such a way that it is reduced to zero waste.

TECNALIA Certificación

TECNALIA Certificación is a company that is part of TECNALIA. It specialises in product certification in the field of sustainability. It has been responsible for carrying out the rigorous tests required to obtain the certificate.

Obtaining this certificate reinforces COSENTINO’s strategic commitment to sustainability: helping its clients to obtain credits in international building certification schemes, such as LEED or BREEAM, among others.

The company already has extensive experience and numerous references of projects in which its products have added value to these credit programmes. An example of this is the Sea Towers complex in Barcelona, which used 15,000m2 of Dekton® and obtained the highest LEED BD+C CS v4 score in Spain.
